Voluntary Sector Assembly
On 12 February 2008 the Fit for the Future Event was held at the Kindle Centre, Asda, Hereford. Click on Fit for the Future to find out what delegates thought and visit the picture gallery.
Many thanks to all who made the 2007 Voluntary Sector Assembly such a great success. On this page you will find links to the pre-event information, and more about what was discussed and decided at that event.
Over 100 people attended the 2007 VSA. There was lots of animated discussion and networking throughout the day. The Representative Reports for 2007 can be downloaded here.
Tom Blumer of 'Wheels to Work' was endorsed by the Assembly as the Access to Services Representative. Congratulation to Tom!
The Assembly voted to support the Steering Group's request to appoint an Independent Chair for the VSA through a standard interview selection process rather than by election.
Geoff Perrot's presentation on Climate Change gave everyone a lot to think about and has become increasingly relevant with the extreme weather events over the UK this June. Marches Energy Agency has calculated the Carbon Footprint of the event. The VSA has paid a Carbon 'offset' of just over £14 which will be added to the Herefordshire pot and will eventually go to a community building nominated at this year's VSA.
Will Lindesay's presentation on the 'Value of the VCS in Herefordshire' also provided a lot of good evidence that we can use to promote the sector locally.
Nelson Training's facilitation during the event kept everything moving along, and added some humour to the discussions. Notes from the Nelson Training workshop on 'Representing the Sector' can be found by clicking on the links on this page.
Poetry Competition - we had some excellent entries and some worthy winners, so much so that you can read all the entries on the Poems page.
