Compact
VSA Compact Representative: Philip Dazeley
The 2008 Assembly, to be held on 4 November 2008 during National Compact Week will discuss the Compact so that views of the Voluntary and Community Sector in Herefordshire can contribute to the national debate. (see paper below)
Compacts are documents which govern the relationships between statutory agencies and the community & voluntary sector. The aim of the Compact is to safeguard the independence of the sector and guide how all parties to the agreement will work better together.
There is a National Compact which is supported by five codes of good practise. Local Compacts have also been developed to reflect distinctive local issues. Nearly all local authorities have a Local Compact.
Read about how the Compact can work to improve local relationships by downloading the information from Paul Barasi who will open the afternoon session of the VSA 2008 on 4 November.
The Herefordshire Local Compact was signed off by the Chief Executives Group of Herefordshire Partnership in January 2008. This Compact now covers the whole of the community & voluntary sector's relationships with statutory partners.
In Herefordshire, we have a 'Funding and Procurement, Code of Good Practice' Compact document which covers the Health & Social Care sector. This was developed by The Alliance, Herefordshire Primary Health Care Trust and Herefordshire Council's Adult and Social Care Services.
