Refreshing the Compact - Consultation phase begins

The Compact's five codes of conduct would be abolished by a new draft version of the agreement published this week.

The original Compact is underpinned by codes on funding and procurement, volunteering, consultation and policy appraisal, community groups and black and minority ethnic groups.

The draft new version, which at 56 pages is about a third of the size of the original, replaces the codes with three sections on involvement in policy development, allocating resources and commissioning and achieving equality.

The consultation period period runs from the 20 July to 12 October 2009 and the plan is to launch the new Compact during National Compact Week which runs from Monday 2 to Sunday 8 November November 2009.

An electronic version can be downloaded at the foot of this page.

For printed copies of the consultation document please telephone Ben King at the Commission for the Compact on 0121 237 5918. He will also consider any requests to receive the document in an accessible format.
