Limited funds remain in the Youth Opportunity/Capital pot

Funding period April 2009- March 2010

Please encourage young people to make applications as soon as possible, for any projects that they want to see happen before 31st March 2010.

  •  'Opportunity' money can be spent on activities up to £4,500 or equipment up to £1000.
  • 'Capital' money can be spent on equipment, buildings etc from £1,000- 15,000.

Young people aged 13-19 years, can apply for activities and projects which they think are needed or would benefit young people in their area. It's about young people's ideas, young people's involvement and only young people can apply (with the support of adults).

Please promote this opportunity to young people, especially to those who don't normally get the chance to take part.

The aim of the funds is to give a voice and influence to young people (13-19 years), particularly those facing disadvantage in relation to things to do and places to go.

The funds must involve young people in identifying and deciding on a range of positive activities for themselves and their peers, providing opportunities to lead projects, develop confidence, knowledge and skills in line with the Every Child Matters outcomes of:

  • staying safe,
  • being healthy,
  • enjoying and achieving,
  • economic wellbeing and
  • making a positive contribution.
