Informal Adult Learning - Your opportunity to Shape the Way Ahead
Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills (DIUS) is undertaking a major consultation on the future of informal learning.
You or your organisation may have responded already to the consultation document Informal Adult Learning - Shaping the Way Ahead. The closing date is 15 May 2008.
This initiative is very important to Third Sector (TS) learning providers, with potentially far-reaching consequences for their work. Because of this, the Third Sector National Learning Alliance (TSNLA) is compiling a collective response from TS providers to ensure they have a strong 'voice' in the wider consultation.
Representing the views of Third Sector learning providers is the core purpose of the TSNLA - a new body that is developing with the active support of NAVCA, the Workforce Development Hub, Federation of Community Development Learning, and large and small third sector learning and skills providers across the country.
The response will be based on a survey of TS providers' views and TSNLA has asked the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) to manage this on its behalf. TSNLA has also commissioned the University of the West of England (UWE) to conduct the survey.
Please tell us what you think about the DIUS consultation and informal learning by completing a short on-line survey. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

The closing date is noon 21st April to allow time to analyse the results and draft the response.
This will be submitted to DIUS and also posted at http://www.niace.org.uk/projects/VCSlearninglinks/AllianceNews.asp
The TSNLA will soon have its own website.
Additionally, the WEA has arranged three seminars for Third Sector providers to express their views - these will also contribute to the response. The seminars are:
22nd April - Birmingham
2nd May - Bristol
2nd May - Newcastle
For further information and to register, please contact Nicky Booth (email: nbooth@wea.org.uk or phone: 0117 916 6504) by 15th April.
