Herefordshire's Local Area Agreement sent to Minister for approval
It has been a long journey and a lot of hard work but finally the latest Local Area Agreement between Herefordshire and the Government has been sent to the Minister for approval.
The Local Area Agreement sets out the priorites for Herefordshire that are best tackled at a local level to deliver the vision contained in the 'Community Strategy', (printed in 2006). It is accompanied by the 'Story of Place', which sets the scene with a lot of background information about Herefordshire.
VSA Representatives on Herefordshire Partnership and wider sector representatives were strongly involved in agreeing the targets and the wording of the 'Story of Place'. Voluntary and Community Sector Representatives were able to get changes to the final version accepted.
Other changes are that many local funding streams from Government have been combined to form an Area Based Grant, paid in a single cheque to Herefordshire Council. From now on all statutory service providers will work together to achieve the vision contained in the Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement.
Voluntary and Community Groups applying for Big Lottery or similar funding streams will also have to demonstrate how they are working to achieve the aims of the Community Strategy, the Local Area Agreement and ultimately to deliver better outcomes for people living in Herefordshire.
