Economic Development Steering Group December 13th 2006.

There was an interesting talk by Cathy Meredith on the work of the Rural hub.  The main theme revolved around sustainability for rural businesses which have had to recover from the adverse effects of the Foot and Mouth outbreak 6 years ago.

Geoff Perrott, the council’s environmental coordinator gave some stark statistics on the increasing threat of climate change,a development given more resonance by recent media reports, and what can be done to make businesses, both urban and rural, more aware of the need to develop ecologically more sustainable solutions.

Following on from Geoff’s talk it was agreed to set up a sustainability sub group within EDSG to look at how we can make a difference locally.
This meeting was held on January 26th and I have attached some information that Geoff has put together. See link below on how to make business more environmentally friendly.

There were also updates on the Economic Development strategy, Edgar Street Grid and the Rotherwas Access Road.
