2009 Happy New Year - but not for all

2009 started with lots of doom and gloom.  Sadly many local organisation have been affected by the deepening economic recession.

One casualty has been the Left Bank Village which as ceased trading leaving many who had booked seeking new venues for special occassions.  Fortunately the VSA has been able to book The Kindle Centre for our next Assembly on 28 January.

Voluntary Sector Representatives have taken a strong lead within Herefordshire Partnership, which has resulted in a special meeting of Herefordshire Partnership on 8 January 2009 to discuss the local situation.

The VSA in conjunction with Survey Monkey has devised a survey to track how the recession is affecting local voluntary and community groups.

We want to hear from as many organisations as possible, whether they are affected by the economic downturn or not.  The plan is to reissue the short questionniare at quarterly intervals so that we are able to track changes over time.

We will share the findings with local partner 'infrastructure' organisations, Herefordshire Council and Partnership, Regional Action West Midlands, NAVCA, NCVO so that the needs of Herefordshire are made known at all levels.
